First Day Hike - JLHSH/MSM - 2026 First Day Hike

Join Missouri State Museum staff on January 1, 2026, for an urban exploration around the Jefferson Landing State Historic Site, the Missouri State Capitol Complex and Jefferson City Parks' Deborah Cooper Park on Adrian's Island. Staff will provide a guided tour as we take in views of the Missouri River and historical buildings. This hike will cover about 1.5 miles on sidewalks with some slight to moderate inclines including the Bicentennial Bridge. The weather may be chilly and windy. Please prepare appropriately for winter weather. Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes, dress warmly, and bring water. Museum staff will use a sound system that works with your favorite, old-school headphones with a standard 3.5 mm jack to help you hear all the great info! (Museum will have disposable ear buds available as well.)
